The history of Boglar goes back to the Ancient times. Finds from the Great Migrations and Roman times prove the popularity of the place. Our ancestors also liked the area but for different reasons than we, residents or visiting tourists do. They saw the possibility of defence in Lake Balaton and the surrounding moor, and considered the hill suitable for settling down, its land for agriculture.
At the beginning of the XIII.century only three families lived the region which belonged to Tihany. After the Turkish times the area started developing but its direction was different from the neighbour settlements'. The reason of that was Boglar's good connection with the villages of the county and its ferry on the lake. Urbanisation began in Boglar and it became the only place in Balaton area beside Keszthely, where most of the inhabitants were from the circles of craftsmen and traders, and not from peasants. This had a significant affect on the physiognomy of the town, we can discover its marks if we look around.
Let's just take a "historical" stroll in Boglar and notice the developments and changes of it.
