Where does the name "Boglar" come from?

One of the features of Balatonboglar is the "Vardomb" (the literal meaning of Vardomb is Castle Hill); just as it was in the old times. It was said in the XVIII. century that the bold hill with its characteristic shape looks like the jewell called "boglar". Would that be the origin of the town's name?

It is proved linguistically that the settlement was called "Baklar" before, and the jewell's name has never been that; so we need to look for somewhere else the origin of the name. "Bak" is a Turkish personal name, "lar" expresses plural. Accordingly the name meant that long ago the place was the property of the Bak family.
